Ft. Wayne Halts Higgins's Hitting Steak Thursday, August 21st , 2025 Jacksonville Nationals second baseman Matt Higgins and his hot bat finally met their match at Earthquakes Stadium. The Ft. Wayne Earthquakes snapped his 39-game hitting string, holding Higgins hitless in 3 at-bats and also whipping Jacksonville, 12-0, for good measure. "We're real pleased with this one," Earthquakes manager Du-sung Moon said. "Nobody wants to be on the wrong end of a streak like that, and clobbering Jacksonville makes it even sweeter." To date this season, Higgins is hitting .427 with 26 home runs. |
