Higgins Hit Streak Reaches 36 Games

The Jacksonville Nationals stopped the Riverside Wolverines, 14-1, and Matt Higgins collected a base hit yet again. The Jacksonville second baseman finished with 2 hits to run his consecutive-game hitting streak to 36.
"I want to get a hit every time up," a visibly excited Higgins told reporters after the contest. "I want to get a hit every game I play. Right now, I feel like I could take this streak to 100 games." Matt Higgins singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, was hit by a pitch in the 7th, flied out in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
Higgins is hitting .430 this year with 25 home runs and 94 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .492, 49 walks and scored 130 times.
