Jacksonville Halts Birchfield's Hitting Steak Wednesday, July 30th , 2025 It was the best of both worlds for the Jacksonville Nationals at Field of the Sunchasers, as they defeated the Sunrise Manor Sunchasers, 9-2, and also snapped Chris Birchfield's 20-game hitting streak. The 18-year-old Sunrise Manor center fielder failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Birchfield, we just wanted to win the game," said Nationals skipper Zack Glomski. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Birchfield frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." At the moment, Birchfield is batting .358 with 10 home runs and 35 RBIs. He has played in 40 games and scored 41 times. |
