Red-Hot Trujillo Scorches Rockers
Monday, August 26th , 2024
Juan Trujillo was at the head of a Long Island hit parade at Centerville Grounds. The right fielder went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Torpedoes to a nice 12-3 victory over the Plymouth Rockers.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Trujillo told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
Rockers skipper Matt Seipp said later that the club gave up "too much plate."
"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Juan Trujillo singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
This season, Trujillo has banged out 134 hits in 444 at-bats for a .302 average with 18 home runs. He is getting on base at a .384 pace and his totals also include 61 RBIs and 76 runs scored.
