Ortega 5-for-5 Against Rockers Thursday, August 20th , 2026 After a 5-hit effort to lead Borrego Springs's 13-2 victory over the Plymouth Rockers, left fielder Luis Ortega told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the ABA Rookie League-level is really something special." The 20-year-old player earned his accolades at Club Circle Park with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Rockers. "His swing is getting there," said Rams skipper Rob Kearney, who spoke glowingly of Ortega after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Luis did that to perfection." Luis Ortega singled in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
