Consecutive-Game Hit Streak Continues for Ortega Sunday, August 16th , 2026 Win or lose, Luis Ortega just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He picked up 2 more today and has now stretched his hitting streak to 20 games. The Borrego Springs Rams left fielder went 2-for-3, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated, 8-5, by the Abingdon Archers at Chupacabras Stadium. "It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "We just don't want to jinx him." Luis Ortega walked in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 8th. To date Ortega has chalked up a .496 average with 27 home runs, driven in 83 runs and scored 83 times. |
