Sunchasers End Deist Streak
Saturday, August 15th , 2026
San Antonio catcher Jonathan Deist came into today's game against the Sunrise Manor Sunchasers on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Sunchasers did their jobs well, beating the San Antonio Griffins, 14-12, and holding Deist hitless to snap his 23-game hitting streak. The 20-year-old catcher had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-1, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Jonathan did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Griffins manager James Beatty. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 23 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
Thus far this year, Deist has hit .450 with 28 home runs and 92 RBIs.
