Torres Bombs 3 HR Against Buckeye Local
Tuesday, July 16th , 2024
Hitting three home runs in a game is usually something to celebrate, but there was no celebration to be found at Cincinnati Grounds after the hitting barrage from David Torres. The Corpus Christi Texans dropped the contest, 9-6, to the Buckeye Local Panthers, leaving Torres with only a historical footnote as consolation.
David is blessed with a natural home run swing so he gets the ball up in the air real quickly," Corpus Christi manager James Beatty said after the loss. "It's just a shame we couldn't win the game, too. I'm sure it spoils the day a little for him."
Along with putting three in the stands, Torres went 4-for-5 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," he told reporters after the game. "Mostly you'll fail if you really try to hit one, but today I tried on the last one."
David Torres hit a solo-shot off Brian Sanborn in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Brian Sanborn in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Alex Hernandez in the 8th.
So far this season, Torres is hitting .356 with 24 home runs.
