Ruhl Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Borrego Springs
Tuesday, June 25th , 2024
Whitby third baseman Randy Ruhl went 0-for-4 in Whitby's 14-10 triumph over the Borrego Springs Rams, snapping his 20-game hitting streak.
Ruhl spoke to BNN after the game and said he "knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later."
"I just would have preferred later," he said with a laugh. "It was fun though."
When Ruhl made an out in his last chance at the plate, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. In the clubhouse after the game, he seemed unbothered by the streak ending.
"There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," Rams manager Michael Wright said of Ruhl's streak. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here."
Ruhl is batting .327 this season in 66 games with 18 home runs, 66 RBIs and 56 runs scored. He has 88 hits in 269 at-bats.
