Tuesday, October 19th , 2021
At the age of 21, Phil Tibbits of the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2021 was good enough to win the first baseman the Northern Conference Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .356 batting average this year, as well as a .451 on-base percentage. He played 104 games and racked up 128 hits, 14 doubles, no triples, 45 home runs, 103 RBIs and 91 runs scored.
He received 10 first place votes out of a possible 24. Mike Sligar of the Terra Linda Chargers finished second in voting with 10 first place votes, while Jon Kenyon of the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates finished third with 2 first place votes.
