Hickey Blasts 3 out of the Park Saturday, August 12th , 2023 Buckeye Local Panthers shortstop Jamie Hickey put on a dazzling display of power at Captains Ballpark against the Tulsa Captains. In the 6-4 Panthers victory, Hickey penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Tulsa manager Jordan Nolasco said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 22-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Hickey said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Jamie Hickey hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. For the season, Hickey is currently batting .297 with 30 home runs and 80 RBIs. In 109 games he has reached base at a .383 rate and scored 79 runs to date. |
