Plymouth Halts Sanchez's Hitting Steak
Monday, July 7th , 2025
Whitby shortstop Tony Sanchez went 0-for-4 in Whitby's 7-2 triumph over the Plymouth Rockers, snapping his 25-game hitting streak.
Sanchez spoke to BNN after the game and said he "knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later."
"I just would have preferred later," he said with a laugh. "It was fun though."
When Sanchez made an out in his last chance at the plate, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. In the clubhouse after the game, he seemed unbothered by the streak ending.
"There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," Rockers manager Scott Vale said of Sanchez's streak. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here."
So far this season, Sanchez has hit .450 with 20 home runs, 44 RBIs and scored 34 times.
