Big 3-HR Day for Castro
Sunday, July 6th , 2025
Haviland Thrashers left fielder Carlos Castro put on a dazzling display of power at Ballpark of Haviland against the Crystal Lake Killers. In the 15-6 Thrashers victory, Castro penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Crystal Lake manager Steve Warzecha said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 18-year-old had 4 hits in 6 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Castro said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Carlos Castro struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jordan Carreon in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jordan Carreon in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Danny Montoya in the 5th, singled in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
In the 2025 season Castro is hitting .390 with 8 home runs.
