Gratta Scorches Earthquakes for 3 HR
Monday, June 30th , 2025
Nick Gratta of the Panthers won the battle against Ft. Wayne pitching, but lost the war. He hit three out of the park at Earthquakes Stadium, got his name in the league record book, but Buckeye Local came up short in the win column, losing to the Earthquakes, 23-9. The Buckeye Local first baseman was red-hot, the ball just exploded off his bat all day long.
"I don't try to hit homers," he said. "I try to go out there and have good at-bats. If I put a good swing on the ball, then it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one. I just try to have good at-bats."
For the game, the 19-year old first baseman Gratta went 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
Where does he rank this day in his career? "It's up there," Gratta said. "I'll put it up there in the upper echelon, despite the loss."
Nick Gratta hit a solo-shot off Willie Escalera in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Willie Escalera in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Mario Manrique in the 3rd and grounded out in the 4th.
So far this season, Gratta is batting .445 with 43 home runs, 97 RBIs and 110 runs scored. He has 137 hits in 308 at-bats, 43 walks and a .518 OBP. Gratta has played in 71 games.
