3 Bombs for Gregg Carter Sunday, July 23rd , 2023 San Bernardino Flight third baseman Gregg Carter almost did it all. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 6 runs and had 3 hits in 5 at-bats. The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Flight to victory. The Corpus Christi Texans escaped with the win, 12-8, despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Carter. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game. Gregg Carter grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 9th. "When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said San Bernardino manager Nick Neumann. "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the Southern Conference. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good ABA Rookie League hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it." Carter is currently batting .340 with 36 home runs, 67 RBIs and 65 runs scored. He has 86 hits in 253 at-bats. |
