Waterman Raps 3 Homers Against Nationals
Wednesday, September 22nd , 2021
Jeff Waterman was in a home run mode at Nationals Park. The Ft. Wayne first baseman massacred Nationals pitching, cracking out three home runs and going 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs and scoring 3 runs. But this sensational performance didn't really matter. Jacksonville won the ballgame, 9-8, despite the three homers.
"I wish a big 'W' had come with this," he said. "It's great to hit three homers, but the bottom line is whether you win or lose."
Nonetheless, Waterman will now have a place in the league record book.
"I guess when you're hot, you're hot," he said. "I'm not going up there trying to hit home runs. I put the good part of the bat on it and luckily three of them went out today."
Jeff Waterman hit a two-run home run off Bob Rehm in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Bob Rehm in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Ben Wiggins in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and walked in the 8th.
In his season totals Waterman has 33 home runs and a .301 batting average.
