Wagner Smashes 3 Homers for Borrego Springs Sunday, July 16th , 2023 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Franklin Cubs. Borrego Springs shortstop Doug Wagner tripled up on the home runs to propel the Rams to a win, 11-4, at Club Circle Park. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Franklin manager Kerry McElree said. "Wagner hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Wagner collected 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 4 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Doug Wagner hit a solo-shot off Dan Logan in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Dan Logan in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 5th and walked in the 8th. This year, Wagner is hitting .235 with 57 hits, 18 home runs, 36 RBIs and has scored 44 runs. |
