Gelardi Goes Deep 3 Times Friday, July 14th , 2023 Some days you can't have it all, as Chuluota Imperials second baseman Mike Gelardi discovered when he cracked three homers against the Haviland Thrashers, and still lost. "I have mixed emotions about this game," he said. "It's great to hit three homers, but it's hard to be happy when you lose the game." The 19-year-old got his name in the league record books, but the Thrashers walked away with the triumph, 9-8, at Imperials Ballpark. Gelardi finished the day with 3 hits in 5 at-bats and 5 RBIs. "I got three balls to hit and nailed all three of them," he said in the postgame interview. Mike Gelardi struck out in the 1st, grounded out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Steve Dunn in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Danny Vollmer in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Max Mascareno in the 9th. So far this year, Gelardi is batting .239 with 39 home runs and 78 RBIs. |
