Thrice Is Nice: Puente Unloads 3 Homers Thursday, July 13th , 2023 San Bernardino Flight center fielder David Puente put on a dazzling display of power at Ballpark of San Bernardino against the Tulsa Captains. In the 12-6 Flight victory, Puente penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Tulsa manager Jordan Nolasco said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 22-year-old had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Puente said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." David Puente grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 7th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Jim Unknown in the 7th. To date Puente has chalked up a .239 average with 8 home runs, driven in 16 runs and scored 22 times. |
