For the day, the Saint Pierre and Miquelon left fielder went 4-for-4 against Abingdon with 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting that led the Pirates to the 9-8 win. "I tell you what. I'm shocked because I didn't think that last ball had enough to get out," he told BNN reporters in the clubhouse following the game. "I thought it was just going to be a long out." Izzy Leyva hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 7th and walked in the 9th. So far this season Leyva is hitting .393 with 61 home runs, 136 RBIs and 107 runs scored. He has 128 hits in 326 at-bats and a .502 OBP. |
