Bats Chill Chavez Hot Streak Tuesday, June 11th , 2024 The Lincoln Princes lost to the Whitby Bats, 3-0, at Lincoln Grounds, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Mario Chavez's 23-game hitting streak. The second baseman went 0-for-4 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Chavez, we would win the game," Bats manager David Sawyers explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." This season, Chavez has hit at a .374 clip with 38 RBIs, 10 home runs and 27 runs scored. He has played in 44 games. |
