Terra Linda Stops Cortez Hit Streak Wednesday, June 24th , 2026 Manuel Cortez, shortstop for the Lincoln Princes, gave it a good try, but his time chasing history came to an end when he went hitless in 2 tries against the Terra Linda Chargers. Not only did the Chargers break his 31-game hitting streak, they also beat Lincoln by the score of 14-5. "Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," Cortez said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate." To date Cortez has chalked up a .368 average with 3 home runs, driven in 31 runs and scored 23 times. |
