Hitting Streak Still Alive for Cortez
Tuesday, June 23rd , 2026
The Lincoln Princes may have proven to be mere mortals as they lost, 11-10, to the Terra Linda Chargers, but Manuel Cortez continued to hit like a god.
The shortstop collected 1 hit in 5 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 31 games.
"Cortez is playing great and is on fire right now," Princes manager Jorge Vasquez said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins."
Cortez was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." Manuel Cortez hit an RBI single in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and grounded out in the 9th.
This year, Cortez is hitting at a .373 pace with 3 home runs and 31 RBIs. He has played in 32 games and scored 23 times.
