Thursday, May 23rd , 2024
Justin Perez went yard three times in a Franklin Cubs victory over the Long Island Torpedoes at Franklin Park.
"I was in a groove," he said. "Every pitch they tossed up there looked like a grapefruit."
For the day, the Franklin second baseman went 5-for-6 against Long Island with 8 RBIs and 4 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting that led the Cubs to the 16-11 win.
"I tell you what. I'm shocked because I didn't think that last ball had enough to get out," he told BNN reporters in the clubhouse following the game. "I thought it was just going to be a long out."
Justin Perez hit a solo-shot off Juan Rodriguez in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Juan Rodriguez in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Miguel Mosquera in the 5th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 7th.
