Sunchasers End Richardson Streak Wednesday, May 15th , 2024 Crystal Lake second baseman Justin Richardson came into today's game against the Sunrise Manor Sunchasers on a hot streak. He left on a cold one. The Sunchasers did their jobs well, beating the Crystal Lake Killers, 7-5, and holding Richardson hitless to snap his 20-game hitting streak. The 20-year-old second baseman had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-2, telling reporters only that he "came up short." "What Justin did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Killers manager Steve Warzecha. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 20 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play." This year, Richardson is hitting .355 with 7 home runs and 21 RBIs in 33 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .473 with 26 walks and 27 runs scored. |
