Wednesday, June 29th , 2022
Sometimes it just isn't enough.
Matt Yeager had an outstanding day at Lincoln Grounds for the Long Island Torpedoes, ripping three home runs. Nonetheless, the Torpedoes fell to the Lincoln Princes, 8-7.
Yeager had a feast at the plate, pounding everything thrown his way. The 21-year-old catcher banged out 3 hits in 4 at-bats, scored 3 times and batted in 4 runs. Despite his sensational performance, the Torpedoes were not able to hold off the Princes.
"Baseball is a funny game," Yeager said in the post-game interview, "You can't dwell on the reasons for the loss. I'm sure there will be days when I go 0-for-4 and we win. These things tend to even out."
Matt Yeager hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 5th, walked in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 10th.
Yeager is hitting .253 this year with 20 home runs and 36 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .357, 27 walks and scored 39 times.
