3 Bombs for Arturo Farias
Thursday, September 2nd , 2021
Corpus Christi Texans third baseman Arturo Farias put on a dazzling display of power at Field of the Sunchasers against the Sunrise Manor Sunchasers. In the 18-10 Texans victory, Farias penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Sunrise Manor manager Shawn Banks said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 19-year-old had 3 hits in 6 at-bats, 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Farias said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Arturo Farias struck out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Chun-mei Ding in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Melvin Mendoza in the 7th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Dave Leonetti in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.
Farias is currently hitting at a .169 pace with 17 home runs and 41 RBIs.
