Mareno Blasts 3 into Bleachers Sunday, July 2nd , 2023 The "hardest feat in sports" debate is a never-ending one with no correct answer, but hitting three home runs is certainly in the conversation. That's exactly what Alex Mareno did at Killer Stadium, going deep three times and carrying his team to victory, 14-11. "It all came together. I was seeing the ball well and I got some good pitches to hit," Mareno said. "Good things happen, when that happens." The San Bernardino Flight right fielder blistered the Crystal Lake Killers for 4 hits, batted in 5 runs and scored 4 times. "It ain't like we weren't trying," Crystal Lake manager Steve Warzecha said. "He was hot and really torched my boys today." Alex Mareno hit a three-run home run off Manny Rodriguez in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Manny Rodriguez in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Cristovão Dray in the 5th, singled in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th. Mareno is hitting .281 this year with 39 home runs and 81 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .415, 69 walks and scored 86 times. |
