Wednesday, August 25th , 2021
Anyone wearing a glove and sitting in the bleachers for today's Captains-Nationals game had a good chance at snagging a home run ball.
Tulsa third baseman Justin Jirkovsky thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the Tulsa to a win, 17-14, over Jacksonville.
"Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Jirkovsky said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run."
Jirkovsky, who is tied for 10th in the SC with a 1.017 OPS, was 3-for-4 on the day with 5 RBI.
Justin Jirkovsky walked in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Scott Barth in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Wil Argomaniz in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Eunice Bamberg in the 6th and struck out in the 7th.
On the season, Jirkovsky is batting .265 with 42 home runs and 113 RBIs. He has played in 123 games.
