Matthews Untouchable, Tosses No-Hitter Saturday, August 14th , 2021 In a brilliant performance at Field of the Colonels, Whitby pitcher Marty Matthews entered an elite group by tossing a no-hitter against the Tiverton Colonels. In the effort, he fanned 6 and walked 4, leading the Bats to victory, 9-0. "I was getting my off-speed stuff over so they couldn't sit on the fastball," Matthews said in the clubhouse after the game. "My guys made some nice plays behind me and cut off several hits, too." This season, Matthews has worked 30 innings with 26 strikeouts en route to a 1-5 record and a 5.10 ERA.
