Jacksonville Stops Perez Hit Streak
Sunday, May 4th , 2025
It was the best of both worlds for the Jacksonville Nationals at Nationals Park, as they defeated the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes, 7-4, and also snapped Edgardo Perez's 21-game hitting streak. The 20-year-old Ft. Wayne left fielder failed to get a hit in 5 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Perez, we just wanted to win the game," said Nationals skipper Zack Glomski. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Perez frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."
This season, Perez has hit at a .442 clip and produced 25 RBI, 5 home runs and 23 runs.
