Aluarez Goes 5-for-5 Against Abingdon
Sunday, May 4th , 2025
A jubilant Freddy Aluarez joined the postgame press conference at Spinners Ballpark to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Abingdon Archers pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates center fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led to the 17-1 Pirates win.
"He made it look easy," said Roberto Enriquez, manager of the Archers. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Freddy Aluarez singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season, Aluarez is batting .343 with 35 hits, 2 home runs, 15 RBIs, 9 walks, .407 OBP and has scored 21 runs. He has played in 24 games.
