Whitby Stops Shafer Hit Streak Tuesday, April 29th , 2025 The Moncton Mounties lost to the Whitby Bats, 2-0, at Eláguila Stadia, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Danny Shafer's 26-game hitting streak. The left fielder went 0-for-2 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Shafer, we would win the game," Bats manager Mike Boyd explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." In 20 games this season, Shafer has batted at a .364 pace with 32 hits and 6 home runs. |
