Leyva Belts 3 HRs Saturday, June 12th , 2021 Anyone wearing a glove and sitting in the bleachers for today's Pirates-Colonels game had a good chance at snagging a home run ball. Saint Pierre and Miquelon left fielder Izzy Leyva thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the Saint Pierre and Miquelon to a win, 12-6, over Tiverton. "Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Leyva said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run." Leyva was 3-for-5 on the day with 6 runs batted in. Izzy Leyva grounded out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Andrew Braden in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 8th. In this current campaign Leyva is hitting at a .354 clip with 8 home runs and 19 RBIs. |
