Panthers Earn 4-1 Home Win
|
The Buckeye Local Panthers picked up a win at Cincinnati Grounds, dropping the Corpus Christi Texans, 4-1. Nick Slover, the 5th overall pick in the 2021 draft, was the difference-maker. The winning pitcher was Slover, now 4-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Buckeye Local is now 55-74.
Andrew Woodall had a big 2-run home run for the Panthers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Buckeye Local leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Unknown and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Panthers on top, 3-0.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Buckeye Local manager D.J. Whiteman.
