McDonald Homers Twice in 9-1 Win
|
The San Bernardino Flight thumped the Sunrise Manor Sunchasers, 9-1, at Field of the Sunchasers. Art McDonald was a big reason his team got the win. McDonald slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The winning pitcher was Alex Avila. His record now stands at 6-4. The right-hander went 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits for the Flight. The win cannot erase the fact that San Bernardino still has a disappointing 37-89 record.
With San Bernardino leading 2-0 in the top of the second, McDonald hit a fastball from Leo Najera for a grand slam home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Flight ahead, 6-0.
Said losing manager Shawn Banks: "At the end of the day, we've got to play better."
