Wolverines Earn Late Win
|
The Riverside Wolverines had to overcome a good performance from Ft. Wayne pitcher Matt Osborne to claim a 3-2 win at Wolverines Ballpark. Osborne went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs. Antonino Sauli picked up the win in relief for Riverside, while Jonathan Powell took the loss. The first-place Wolverines lifted their record to 69-53.
Riverside got a clutch hit from Jeremy Wright. The designated hitter launched a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
Wright told reporters after the game: "Took some doing, but we got it done."
