Behind a fine performance from Steve Fites, the San Bernardino Flight knocked off the Buckeye Local Panthers, 3-2. Fites hit 2 home runs for the Flight. San Bernardino, with the win, is 35-87.
Julio Vargas had a big solo home run for the Flight in the bottom of the fifth inning. With San Bernardino leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Victor Aguilar, who is tied for 3rd in the SC in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Flight on top, 3-1.
"We had the right guys up at the right times," said Buckeye Local manager D.J. Whiteman. "We just didn't cash in."
