The Jacksonville Nationals knocked off the San Antonio Griffins, 6-1, in Southern Conference action at Griffins Field. Jacksonville pitcher and Panthersville, Georgia, native Tom Ramirez had an outstanding performance. The winning pitcher was Ramirez, now 1-2. He tossed 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. Jacksonville is now 64-52. San Antonio is 37-79.
The Nationals got a big at-bat from shortstop Bobby McFarland. For the game, McFarland went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 27th double of the season gave Jacksonville a 1-0 lead.
