Thrashers Win Thriller, 4-2

The Sunrise Manor Sunchasers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Lazaro Martinez into a win. Instead, the Haviland Thrashers prevailed, 4-2. Martinez threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Haviland reliever Max Mascareno picked up the win, upping his record to 3-4. Steven Hyatt was saddled with the loss. With the win, Haviland upped its record to 66-46.
The decisive blow was delivered by Leo Mendez in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 21-year old left-handed pitcher Steven Hyatt to win the game for Haviland. The home crowd went nuts.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Mendez, "one at-bat at a time."
