Win Makes Thrashers 62-42
|
The Haviland Thrashers earned a close win over the Riverside Wolverines, thanks in part to Tony Magallon. The Haviland left-hander, who is tied for 9th in the SC in quality starts with 4, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. The victory gives Haviland a record of 62-42.
Gordie Stotler had a big 2-run home run for the Thrashers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Haviland leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from Leonardo Vazquez and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 55th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thrashers ahead, 3-0.
In postgame remarks, Stotler hailed his team's "grit."
