Taylor Excels, But Nationals Win
Both teams had their chances, but the Jacksonville Nationals eventually prevailed.

The Jacksonville Nationals had to overcome a big game from Riverside third baseman Steve Taylor to leave Nationals Park with a victory. And they did, winning, 10-9. Taylor went 2-4 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 and driving in 4. The save was credited to Eric Grace, his 16th.

In the bottom of the 5th, Jacksonville took the lead on a bases-clearing double by Matt Higgins. At the time, the Nationals were trailing 7-6, but Higgins's hit with two outs against Riverside pitcher Alex Perez put them in front, 9-7.

"I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," Higgins told the Jacksonville Today.

Jacksonville now has a record of 55-48 with the win.
