Earthquakes Earn 6-5 Win Versus Panthers
Tim Wetmore had a good game, but he could not keep the Buckeye Local Panthers from falling, 6-5, to the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes at Earthquakes Stadium. The Buckeye Local first baseman belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice in the loss. The first-place Earthquakes, at 76-16, now lead their division by 16½ games.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jose Valdez in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a run-scoring double off 19-year old left-handed pitcher Cesar Castillo to win the game for Ft. Wayne. The home crowd went nuts.

"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Valdez said (again).
