Led by Bobby McFarland, the Jacksonville Nationals defeated the Riverside Wolverines, 16-3. McFarland was 2-3 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Nationals. Picking up the win was Hector Mendoza. He went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. The right--hander struck out 6 and walked 2. Hidenori Miyata closed the door for Jacksonville, picking up his 1st save of the year.

The Nationals got a big boost from center fielder Tommy Johnson who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Wolverines hurler Ryan Neely. It was his 23rd walk of the season and put Jacksonville on top, 1-0.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said McFarland.
