Killers Come Up Short at Riverside, 6-5
The Riverside Wolverines beat the Crystal Lake Killers, 6-5, in part because of center fielder Ismael Martinez. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Manny Garcia notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 3-2. Picking up the save was 19-year old left-handed pitcher Victor Alatorre.

Martinez had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-2 slider from Pat Gannon, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Wolverines a 5-3 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Martinez.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Martinez said.

The Wolverines now own a record of 42-40.
