Earthquakes Victors, 2-1, at Buckeye Local
|
In a tight tilt between the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes and the Buckeye Local Panthers, Adam Hazen was the deciding factor. The Ft. Wayne right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. In 7 innings, Hazen surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Jonathan Powell, who leads the SC in saves with 16, nailed down the save.
The Earthquakes got a big at-bat from catcher Pedro Recinos. For the game, Recinos was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 26th home run of the season gave Ft. Wayne a 2-0 lead.
"That's baseball," said Buckeye Local manager D.J. Whiteman. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
The Southern Conference East Division-leading Earthquakes have a record of 63-13.
