The Riverside Wolverines picked up a win at Captains Ballpark, knocking off the Tulsa Captains, 6-4. Starting pitcher Ken Hicks was a big reason why. Hicks yielded 2 runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 5, and struck out 2. His record improves to 1-0. Bernie Rodriguez earned the save for Riverside, his 14th of the year.
Riverside left fielder Ryan Patterson contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a splitter to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 41st hit of the season and put the Wolverines ahead, 4-1.
"This is a very good team," said Patterson. "We have the chance to do something special."
Riverside improves to 46-27 with the win. They lead their division by 7½ games.
