Thrashers Knock Off Killers, 6-0
|
Haviland pitcher Steve Dunn had a large part in his team subduing the Crystal Lake Killers, 6-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Dunn yielded no runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 7-2. Danny Vollmer, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Haviland used the timely hitting of Manuel Jimenez to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Thrashers on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but he made it count.
"Steve is good at sticking to his strengths," said Haviland manager Bill Mason.
With the win over Crystal Lake, the Thrashers improved to 44-27.
