In a low-scoring contest, Riverside pitcher Ken Hicks was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 1-0 win. In 5.1 innings, Hicks surrendered 1 hit, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Antonino Sauli nailed down the save.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Wolverines had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the sixth, when designated hitter Jim Mann hit a run-scoring single. The single came off David Morris and made the score 1-0, Wolverines. Mann went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.

"That's baseball," said Buckeye Local manager D.J. Whiteman. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."

With the win, Riverside goes to 29-31, while the Panthers fall to 22-38.
