Sunchasers Suffer One-Run Loss at San Bernardino
|
The San Bernardino Flight downed the Sunrise Manor Sunchasers, 5-4. The hitting star was first baseman Steve Gottlieb. Gottlieb went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Flight. The winning pitcher was 18-year old left-handed pitcher Jim Unknown. He tossed 99 pitches over 5.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Jim Unknown earned the save for San Bernardino, his 1st.
With San Bernardino leading 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth, Gottlieb hit a run-scoring single off Sunrise Manor hurler Andy Espindola. It was the 47th hit of the season for Gottlieb and put his team ahead, 5-3.
"No time for flexing," said Gottlieb. "It's always one game at a time."
The win puts the Flight at 29-33, while the Sunchasers drop to 38-24.
