Kipfer Homers Twice in 3-2 Win
|
Nationals left fielder Jake Kipfer left his imprint on his team's 3-2 win over the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes. Kipfer went 2-2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for Jacksonville in the contest. The winning pitcher was 21-year old right-handed pitcher Jose Chacon. He tossed 74 pitches over 5.2 innings, allowing no runs on 1 hit. Eunice Bamberg got the save, the 15th for him this season.
Kipfer had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third to put Jacksonville in front, 2-0. With the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run off Ft. Wayne pitcher Ted Kelly.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Jacksonville manager Zack Glomski.
The victory gives the Nationals a record of 33-25.
